Have a problem?
If you have a problem or dispute with a neighbor who is a registered member of this site, we have help!
We believe that calm and thoughtful communication is the key to resolving most problems
So, first, your neighbor needs to know what the problem is
Send them a private message detailing the problem.
Messaging tends to avoid confrontation and allows time and space to allow each to consider the other’s perspective and consider a resolution.
If exchanging messages is not succesful, and if you both agree, the problem can be referred to a mediator – a volunteer within the community with experience of resolving problems.
You will send him your messages and provide a statement outlining your current position. He will read what you send him and may ask you questions or suggest solutions that tries to balance your different needs. He may suggest a meeting that he will join and help you to find a solution.
A mediator is neutral. He is there to help you to identify a solution that you can both live with. He will not take sides or tell you who he thinks is right and who is wrong. He can help you reach a settlement and, if needed, create an agreed written settlement agreement.
If mediation is unsuccesful, the mediator will declare an impasse and end the process.
After he has done so, and if you agree, he may be prepared to give you an opinion of what he thinks is a fair and reasonable solution. .You are not bound to accept any advice he might be prepared to provide. He may also decline to provide an opinion.
He may also agree to act as an arbitrator of your dispute and make a decision provided that you both agree to accept it as a final resolution.
It will be under the supervision of someone with significant experience of court-ordered mediation and who has been appointed as a mediator by the Florida Supreme Court.
This is a voluntary, confidential and a very informal process and will not affect any rights that someone has to pursue a remedy by any other means.
To pursue a request for mediation service, send a message to the site administrator via the Contact form under the Questions? menu option at the top of this page.
